Lake Tanganyika and the roads few travellers take
Burundi sees a fraction of the visitors its neighbours do. For the right traveller that is precisely the appeal: Lake Tanganyika's beaches are empty, the drumming tradition at Gishora is genuinely extraordinary, and there is no tourist infrastructure to filter the experience through.
This is not a first East African trip. We include it for people who have already travelled the region and want somewhere that has not been shaped around visitors.
