Where the safari was invented
Kenya is where most people picture a safari, and for good reason: the Maasai Mara holds the highest predator density in Africa, and between July and October it receives the largest land migration on earth.
But the country is far wider than the Mara. Amboseli puts elephants against Kilimanjaro. Samburu holds species you will not see further south. Lake Nakuru turns pink with flamingo. And two hours from the plains, the Indian Ocean coast is warm year round.
Because Nairobi is the region's aviation hub, Kenya is also the easiest place to start a longer East African journey — most of our multi-country routes begin here.
